ASK received Best Poster Award in the 11th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2011) that was held in Athens, Georgia, USA on 6-8 July 2011. The paper titled "Learning Object Repositories for Science Education: The Case of the OpenScienceResources Repository" (co-authored by Demetrios Sampson, Panagiotis Zervas and Sofoklis Sotiriou) presents a Science Education LOM Application Profile and its deployment to a web-based repository of digital science education resources, namely the OpenScienceResources Repository. |

OpenScienceResources Project received Silver Award in IMS Impact Awards |
|

The European Project OpenScienceResources, which is funded by European Commission under the eContentPlus Programme, received the Silver Award in the IMS Impact Awards, an IMS Global Learning Consortium competition. The IMS Global Learning Consortium has more than 160 members (institutions, suppliers, and governments) from all over the world that collaborate on the interoperability between digital content, learning applications, and tools, on the adoption and on the potential learning impact of standards-based digital learning innovations. The award was received during the Learning Impact 2011 Conference, 16-19 Μαίου 2011, Long Beach California and the OSR presentation is available online. ASK offers to the OpenScienceResources Project the ASK Learning Objects Metadata Authoring Toolkit (ASK-LOM-AT), which is used by the participating European Science Centres, so as to characterize their science education digital content with educational Metadata and the ASK Learning Objects Social Tagging (ASK-LOST 2.0) which is used by science education teachers and students to add tags to science education digital content offered by the participating European Science Centres. |

ASK received a Best Paper Award in the 5th Pan-Hellenic Conference of the Greek Society of ICT Teachers that was held in Ioannina, Greece at 1-3 April 2011. The paper titled "Technology-supported ICT School Teaching using Scratch" (co-authored by Vasiliki Kapsimali and Demetrios Sampson) presents a pilot study related with the possible exploitation of Scratch for supporting ICT School Teaching. |

ASK supports "open source software" and makes available through the Sourceforge Web-Site(the world's largest open source software development web site), the ASK-LOM-AP: A Web-Based Tool for Development and Management of IEEE LOM Application Profiles. The ASK-LOM-AP Tool is available at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/asklomap/ and support the process of developing and managing IEEE LOM Application Profiles for different educational communities. It also incorporates the ability of educational metadata authoring based on a produced IEEE LOM Application Profile. |
