"From Research to Promotion- Mobile Learning Experiences in Taiwan"

The advance of wireless communication and mobile technologies has provided unprecedented opportunities to implement new learning strategies by integrating real-world learning environments and the resources of the digital world. Moreover, with the help of these new technologies, individual students are able to learn and access to digital resources without being limited by location and time. This implies that, with proper learning guidance, students have the opportunities to link what they have learned in the schools to what they have experienced in daily life and to apply the knowledge to dealing with practical problems. In the past ten years, Taiwan researchers have conducted many empirical studies to develop effective mobile learning strategies and tools. Based on the research experiences, several national-wide promotion programs have been conducted in recent years to assist school teachers to employ those strategies and tools in school settings. Currently, more than 200 elementary schools and high schools join the programs. In this invited talk, a review of Taiwan mobile learning studies is given. Moreover, the national-wide mobile learning promotion plan and on-going promotion programs are presented to show how the research results are applied to school curriculums.
