Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung, the biggest harbor and the second biggest city in Taiwan, is located in southern Taiwan. The harbor was the starting point for the development of Kaohsiung, and it is an important transport point for the Indian Ocean and the NorthesatAsiaShippingCenter. Kaohsiung has been the center of heavy industry and petrochemical industry, but now it is devoted in moving toward a city of high-tech and low-pollution precision industries. Kaohsiung has a population of 1.5 million, and half of it is labor. The official language is Mandarin; Taiwanese and English are also spoken. The average temperature is 24.7 degrees Centigrade (28.7 degrees in July). Every year, many activities about culture, arts, sports, industry and business are held here. The sunny southern climate and friendly people here attract tourists from all over the world. With traditional and recreational activities accessible every corner of the city, Kaohsiung is really a unique place to stay. Kaohsiung is the child of the ocean. The desire to be close to the ocean is born in all Kaohsiung people. Walking around Chichin district, you will be revitalized by the salty smell of the sea breeze. The long coastline is a key feature of Kaohsiung, and the WindTurbinePark by the sea welcomes everyone. People go to work by ferries, and the lighthouse has looked after the fisherman for hundreds of years. The ocean is Kaohsiung's most loyal friends.
At the other end of the harbor, people wander about in the ferry park, watch the water craft sail by; swimmers frolic in great delight at Histzuwan; lovers, embracing each other, people appreciate the sunset over the sea; and children are excited when the big ships sail by. Ocean symbolizes a vivid interplay of happiness and bliss. If your family would like to find new ways of enjoying the ocean, please come to Hsinkuang Pier. There you can have a voyage on the "Blue Highway" along the coast and experience intimacy with the wider sea. Ocean allows Kaohsiung a very special lifestyle. The hearts of Kaohsiung people, just like those of seabirds by the port, are much drawn to the great sea.
